Connecticut Water Service, Inc. Approves Increased Capital Spending and Declares Dividends

Connecticut Water Service, Inc. (NASDAQ-GS: CTWS) today announced that the Company’s Board of Directors approved a $26.4 million Capital Spending Plan for 2009, which represents an $8.1 million, or 44%, increase over 2008’s projected spending of $18.3 million. The Board also declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.2225 per common share payable on December 15, 2008 for shareholders of record as of December 1, 2008.

Connecticut Water and Avon Water Sign Agreement to Interconnect Water Systems

Connecticut Water Company and the Avon Water Company have entered into a water purchase and sale agreement which would enable Connecticut Water to purchase up to 1 million gallons of water per day from Avon Water.

Connecticut Water Service, Inc. Reports Third Quarter Earnings

Connecticut Water Service, Inc. (NASDAQ GS: CTWS) announced that unusually wet weather between July and September led to an average 10% reduction in billed water consumption per customer compared to the same period in 2007 and adversely impacted the Company’s revenues and net income in the third quarter of 2008.  The National Weather Service, at Bradley International Airport, located in the Company’s northern service area, recorded rain on 43 days during the quarter, including 10 of the 13 weekends, totaling 23.95 inches.  In 2007, 6.69 inches of rain was recorded at Bradley during the same period, and normal rainfall for the period is 11.8 inches.

Connecticut Water Service, Inc. Increases Dividend

Connecticut Water Service, Inc. (NASDAQ GS: CTWS) announced that on August 19, 2008 the Company’s Board of Directors approved an annualized dividend increase of two-cents per common share, or 2.3%, above the current cash dividend. The quarterly cash dividend on common shares was increased to $0.2225 per quarter from $0.2175.

Connecticut Water Service, Inc. Reports Second Quarter Earnings

Connecticut Water Service, Inc. (NASDAQ GS: CTWS) announced that net income for the three months ending June 30, 2008 totaled $2.9 million, or $0.35 per basic common share, on operating revenues of $16 million. During the same period in 2007, the Company reported net income of nearly $1.9 million, or $0.22 per basic common share, on revenues of $14.4 million.

Connecticut Water Signs Agreement to Purchase Ellington Acres Company

The Connecticut Water Company (CWC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Connecticut Water Service, Inc. (NASDAQ GS:CTWS), announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase the Ellington Acres Company (EAC). EAC is a regulated water utility company that provides water service to approximately 750 customers, or approximately 2,300 people in the town of Ellington, Connecticut.

Connecticut Water Service, Inc.(NASDAQ GS:CTWS) today announced that it is now a part of the Russell 3000® Index. Connecticut Water was added to the index on June 27, 2008 when Russell Investments reconstituted its U.S. and global equity indexes. Russell announced the final additions and deletions to its indexes on June 30, 2008.

Connecticut Water Service, Inc. (NASDAQ GS: CTWS) announced that income from continuing operations showed a strong gain in 2007 totaling $8.8 million, or $1.06 per basic common share. In 2006, the Company reported income of $6.7 million, or $0.81 per basic common share.

(NASDAQ-GS: CTWS) today announced that the Company’s Board of Directors has declared a quarterly cash dividend of $ 0.2175 per common share payable on March 17, 2008 for shareholders of record as of March 3, 2008. This quarterly dividend remains unchanged from the previous quarter and represents an annualized dividend of $0.87 per share.

Connecticut Water completes acquisition of Birmingham Utilities’ Eastern Division

Connecticut Water Service, Inc. (NASDAQ GS: CTWS, the “Company”) announced that its public water utility subsidiary, The Connecticut Water Company, has completed the acquisition of the Eastern Division of Birmingham Utilities, Inc. (Birmingham), that was previously announced last June and approved by the Connecticut Department of Utility Control in November 2007. Connecticut Water is acquiring 2,200 customers serving a population of about 7,500 in 15 Eastern Connecticut towns in an area where the Company already has water system operations.
