Coverage:
This plan will cover the repair or replacement of:
- Water service line leaks from the curb valve (CWC owned) up to and including the first shutoff valve in the house.
- Non functioning curb box or curb box cover.
- Leaking or non-functioning valves or meter pit parts for customers with meter pits.
- Leaking in home water supply system (permanent water pipes, connecting fittings and valves that distribute the incoming water supply to fixtures and appliances).
- Clogged/blocked or broken wastewater lines inside the house.
- Clogged/blocked or broken wastewater lines from the exterior foundation to the property line (if served by a municipal sewer system) or to the septic tank (if served by an on site septic system).
- Also includes cost of water turn off/turn on fees otherwise charged by the Connecticut Water Company.
Coverage Limits or Service Fees:
- There are no coverage limits or service fees for call outs associated with water service line repairs. All other call outs require that the customer pay a $50 Service Fee.
- The customer will be billed and agrees to pay the additional cost for any single in–home plumbing repair that exceeds $2,000.
- The customer will be billed and agrees to pay the additional cost for any single wastewater repair that exceeds $4,000.
- Clearing wastewater lines due to clogs caused by tree roots is limited to once per contract year.
Specific Exclusions:
- Reimbursement for cost of water loss due to leaks.
- Any work required specifically and solely for the purpose of increasing water flow or pressure.
- Leak repairs on main to curb water service lines installed off of privately owned water mains.
- Any water line parts not specifically listed as included such as, pressure reducing valves, treatment equipment, booster pumps, fixtures and appliances, faucets, showerheads,
diverters, hot water tanks/dispensers, etc.
- Any work needed to repair running toilets or toilets with fill/flush problems.
- Any work specifically and solely for the purpose of updating non-blocked or non-broken water or wastewater lines to meet code, law or ordinance requirements or changes thereto, or for studies to discover or estimate the inflow or infiltration into your wastewater line.
- Any wastewater line parts or fixtures not specifically listed as included such as, external wastewater clean outs, wastewater grinders and/or lift pumps.
- Any repairs on wastewater lateral connection lines that lie outside your property boundary.
Customer Responsibilities:
For customers on municipal sewer systems:
- The customer must first contact the municipal sewer system provider to investigate the source of the problem.
- If the municipal sewer system provider determines that the leak or blockage is the responsibility of the homeowner, then the homeowner would call us to arrange for repair under our Plan.
